Farewell & Thanks
On Thursday, 21st of November, we are joining Brendan McMahon to look back on his great career in ESB and to wish him the very best in the next chapter in his life. Brendan has worked in various parts of the ESB organisation over the last 44 years and I know that a lot of people will want to join Brendan to acknowledge the great work he has done and to reminisce and share a few stories.
Brendan began his journey as an Electrical Engineer in the Distribution Department, later moving to the Materials Department and then transitioned to a career in IT. This is where Brendan found his passion for technology, he was involved in high profile projects across the company such as developing the computation of the network district, setting up the first ESB website, demonstrating his passion for digitalisation, data and technology well and truly before “digital and data” became the newest game in time.
Brendan is a fountain of knowledge and his passion for technology and making a difference to society, came together when he took up his role as Senior Systems Architect on ESB’s strategic project to electrifying transport in Ireland. He was instrumental in the establishment of ESB ecars, the foundation of the Open Charge Alliance……. and the development of the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), now a globally adopted industry standard.
Brendan’s extensive expertise, experience, and knowledge will be greatly missed. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Brendan for over 44 years of dedicated service and wish him a long, healthy, and happy retirement as he embarks on new adventures in this next chapter of his life.
